Even tho when I first read this book I was only 13, it made me understand a lot, and I’m still obsessed with it. I can relate deeply to the story, especially because it really reminds me of my own family. After the loss of my baby brother, my parents divorced when I was only 4, and the emotions Pauline goes through felt incredibly real to me.
Reading the book made me feel a mix of sadness, hope, and comfort. It’s not just a story about divorce or heartbreak—it’s about how families survive pain and how love can take many forms. The way Pauline struggles with her feelings but still finds strength in her memories and her son touched me deeply. It made me realize that even in the darkest moments, there’s room for healing and happiness.
The poetic way the book connects rain and happiness is something I often think about. Sometimes sadness feels overwhelming, but this story reminds me that joy can grow even in hard times. It’s a beautiful, honest, and emotional book that stays with you long after you finish it. For anyone going through family struggles or loss, this book offers understanding and hope like no other.
