This is a very intriguing story and I did watch all of the series. I do think there were some flaws in the acting though. The main character, Anna, is supposed to be a con artist. A con artist is typically very charming and engaging in order to lure in his/her victims. Unfortunately, Anna is portrayed here as a surly and angry, with occasional episodes of tears. She is never charming. I don't know if this is the fault of the actress or of the direction she received. Maybe she was too focused on trying for the weird accent and couldn't bring out the character. I even googled the real Anna and watched a video of an interview with her. In real life, Anna does have more charm. She smiles and giggles, and demonstrates how she would be more seductive with people to dupe them into caring about her. The Netflix character has none of that. I also think the journalist was portrayed as hysterical. Maybe the idea was to have her so emotional since she was pregnant, but I really didn't believe a true journalist would behave the way she did. I have on occasion watched other Shonda Rimes shows and in my opinion she does tend to make white women come across as labile and hysterical. Still, I did watch the program to the end because the story in and of itself is quite interesting and frankly, the real Anna had to be very clever to pull off all the actions she did. Just proves that the lure of money is very strong for so many supposedly intelligent people.
