Obviously, a gorgeous film with beautiful cinematography who would have thought that Italy; Italian beaches, in particular, could look so beautiful in black and white.
I did not read the books but enjoyed The film. While I am a huge fan of Andrew Scott, he is what ruined this movie for me. He played it so subdued and understated, that I neither feared he would be caught nor cared. In fact, I could hardly fathom why Dickie would want to hang out with this weird guy who barely said anything and added nothing as far as good company.
I don’t think age really matters in this story as long as you buy the fact that Dickies dad still tries to maintain control over his son’s life.
So while it was beautiful to watch, The bland performances, especially by Andrew Scott. I loved him as the hot priest, so I KNOW he HAS charisma. Just not sure why he chose to not use even a tiny bit of it to woo this couple so they would want him around.
