This is an incoherent mess.Hard to follow,hard to understand. When one scene ends with a close up on a girl you expect the woman shown next,to be the girl grown up.She is not.By the time you have understood, we are in a different place with new people and you're trying to work out who is who.Who is Costner's character? Why is he challenged by the cartoon baddie(who surely wouldnt have lived so long with his absurd temperament)who seemed to know where he was going but insisted on a indecipherable cross examination of his motives.Least that's what i assumed because like half the cast i couldnt understand a word they were saying.I understood the English couple! Who are the soldiers? The buried women get dug up a few scenes along from their burial yet somehow survived without food and water. People come and go.Places change and time elapses yet there's no cohesion. The scene with the Apache being hunted left me thoroughly confused. A would be epic that is anything but.

I didn't buy the cub photographer hitching a ride.What was she ,about 12? Neither did I buy the way the press acted in battle.Plain dangerous and portrayed as getting in the way. We were pitched straight in without context.Where does it say why the US has reached this point.? It also seemed to steal Apocalypse Now's use of music and chopper sound effects. Thankfully it was less than 2 hours long.Another hour of the gratuitous brutality and I'd have been seeing my doctor with battle fatigue.
