High expectations, big banner, strong casting and Shahrukh Khan finally boils down to some amazing screenwork and few dissaponments. For dieheart Shahrukh lover, the movie might appear as spectacular one, but there are some shortcomings that could have been managed better for the sharper audience looking for a good movie.
The movie is capturing from the first scene. The action is inspired by the South films and definitely has some spectacular moments. The screenplay is weak and makes you wonder a few times during the movie, "what is happening!" The dialogues could have been a lot better.
The casting didn't do much of a magic in the movie. Other than Shahrukh and Deepika, others didn't have much to perform. Nayanthara looks wow but the script doesn't have much scope for her to act. Vijay Sethupathi did well, but again not much for him to perform. I didn't find any reason for Sanjay Dutt to be in the film. At times I felt the casting was added to include individual fan base towards the movie's sucess.
Shahrukh did well for the role. His performance and action as the older one was mind blowing. The persona suited him well, which was one of the best part of the movie. The younger Shahrukh didn't look good for his role or age and the character made me question his part of the story. The train scenes were excellent, but then it started going downhill. The movie was too long with too many unnecessary and unattractive songs. The length was a bad total for to many base line stories which could have been managed better.
Please watch it solely for entertainment. If you don't have an complex analytical eye, you will infact like it. Make sure you are ready for almost 3 hours in the hall with nothing to do afterwards. Otherwise you will be checking time repeatedly.
