This movie is awful.
As a movie in general the dialogue is pretty bad, the effects are terrible, and the pacing is awful.
As a Stargate movie it's even worse. The end of the movie just boils down to the villain brainwashing the heroes and saying "forget everything that happened in this movie so you can go do everything that happens in the 1994 movie". What was the point of this adventure? And now the agency of the heroes in the rest of the franchise is thrown into doubt. Are they exploring and overthrowing goauld because it's in their nature? Or are they just unwittingly fulfilling the whims of this one off villain.
It's more like a bad fan fiction than anything else.
And the Stargate itself is so ugly. The event horizon looks like trash and the gate itself is all one color. It's like the props department ran out of money before they could paint it.
There are a small number of good things though, just enough to earn one star. Kasuf was great the whole way through. You could tell the actor playing him really did his homework. Dr. Langford was good too.
