"Be Kind, Because Everyone You Know..Is Fighting a Hard Battle"... Socrates
Just sing it King..Just Sing!! TWELVE MINUTE Standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival this year!!
First of all, I remember Elvis from my childhood and through adulthood..so what I will say now is from my heart and memories of him.. This was an Amazing story of Elvis's life , from growing up in poverty in Mississippi to the charismatic King of Rock and Roll! The movie is 2 hours and 40 minutes, but flew by, with Baz-style and leaves you wanting more. Kudos to Baz Luhrman, and his genius in keeping the storyline moving quickly while keeping the audience engaged.
A Superlative performance by Austin Butler. A Star is Born!!
It is obvious how he studied Elvis's mannerisms and stage presence, and I cannot imagine any person giving a better performance.
I can definitely see him nominated for an Academy Award. I think he will win Best Actor!! 👌 I will most definitely go back to see this movie again, and in the Dolby Theater this time. 👍
Elvis sold more records than anyone in history. His charisma and stage presence was Incredible, and has never been matched to this day.. (The only names that I can think of off hand, are Pavarotti and Michael Jackson..as far as powerful performers). I Love how this movie showed the influence of the Delta Blues, Gospel, and Rhythm and Blues that he witnessed growing up in Mississippi and shaped his career..and Soul...
I am old enough to remember Elvis and his Huge Talent, and how the whole country as well as the world mourned his death. His life in some ways was both inspirational and Shakespearean tragedy.
Tom Hanks gave a great performance as Col. Parker with a P.T. Barnum like flair. The tragedy is how he fiscally abused (not physically, even though he was an enabler in providing drugs to Elvis), and controlled Elvis for so many years.
I would highly recommend this movie!! You will laugh and you will cry for the King of Rock and Roll.. There will never be another
Elvis.. TCB...And Be Kind to Everyone ...
