The movie had elements that were Lovecraftian. The Dagon rape scene went on too long. Lovecraft always gave us bits of horror and left the rest to imagination. Having to watch an extended sexual assault while sitting with my wife and stepdaughter has just guaranteed that I will never talk them into anything Lovecraft. Such a shame that some discretion could not have been shown.
