At age 83, my husband I have been Masterpiece devoted fans for many years .... we cannot understand why you would think viewers who have loved: Upstairs Downstairs, The Crown, Poldark, Endeavour, Call the Midwife ... would ever watch a violent series such Van der Valk? This is just one more ugly series of murder and mayhem as we seniors used to say. We eagerly await Masterpiece each Sunday for precisely the reason that it is NOT a show like so many others. This is an extreme disappointment.
