It's just a craze-fest of mindless action and Jason Stathem looking at men with a hatred on his face not unlike homophobes would inhabit. It also has the revenge elements with an interesting albeit simple plot. In all, Death Race is more or less Mad Max minus the desert and Mel Gibson. Or Tom Hardy, whichever one you've seen.
