Mega Man: Battle & Chase is a great game that had the unfortunate timing of coming out when Kart Racing games were everywhere and I believe that because of that, people looked at it as just another Kart Racer, but it did so much more. The visuals live up to the cute, yet cool look of a Mega Man game and had a mix of 2D and 3D elements. The visuals have aged well in my opinion.
The music is gorgeous with a great mix of synth, sax and guitar. The music can sound heroic, comedic or chill and it brings with it a sense of nostalgia even for a country that you didn't even have to be in at the time. The styles covered are Jazz, Rock, Techno, J-Pop, Ambient and World Musical styles with songs like Sunshine Girl and He Takes The Stage.
The gameplay has you choosing either Mega Man, one of his friends or one of the Robot Masters. There are unlockable characters in the game. Each characters powers are unique and bringing a new playstyle to the game each time if you decide to do multiple playthroughs. The difficulty starts off quite easy, but it ramps up the more times you beat the game. There are more features in the Japanese Rock Man: Battle & Chase, but I haven't played it; so I wouldn't be doing it justice by commenting on it since I have only played the version on the original Play Station that was released in Australia.
By 2022 standards, Mega Man: Battle & Chase lacks the quality of life features and the full on experience of courses in modern Kart Racers; however it is still a fun time and I still listen to the soundtrack to this day.
