I have never read the books or played the game. I had no prior knowledge of the universe. I have to say I was completely lost for about 6 episodes when I finally realized there were flashbacks that just happened with no prompting at all. I have no idea who anyone is besides maybe 3 characters. Just never came together for me. NOT the next GoT. Not even close. The parts I did understand had potential.
