Flyn’s narrative is an offering of dark but beautiful non fiction , a mirror warning us from the other side of the image, a call where the past , the present and the future coalesce in both a grave voice of the painful watcher, the persistent questioning of that which was left behind, and a birdsong of hope.
Is a book where a brown grave and a green bud cohabitate.
Islands of abandonment is very well researched and delivered both like a non fiction book , but also like a travelogue, often a pictographic narrative and sometimes , a poem.
Must read if you are interested in ecology , climate change , the production system of growth, nature, or , may dare, if you like climate sci fi. Although it is not a science fiction book on climate , each chapter reads like a short story. Thank you Flyn!
