Season 1 and 2 were incredible. The stage was set for a very satisfying ending, one where we fleshed out the back stories of the main characters, how they're intertwined, and resolving everything. Instead, it just killed everyone and left things hanging. I know the intention with Gi-Hun dying was that you have to make sacrifices to stay human, being good costs, etc etc but what it really played off as for many of us is no matter how good you are, no matter what you do, it's hopeless so you shouldn't bother. Just be a bad person and you'll get to live. Hurt people and you'll get ahead. Why not? Nice guys finish last, after all. It's very toxic, and I know that wasn't the INTENT, but it was how it came across. The players I loved dying are one thing, it's SG, of course they'll all die, but Gi-Hun deserved better. At least a fleshed out confrontation with the Frontman. Finding out who he is, that Jun-ho knew all along, and if he had to die at least do it where he knew the Korean games were done for good. And the Hwang brothers... What was the point of their storyline? In-Ho gave Jun-ho his kidney, saved him on the cliff, had that regret hallucination, and yet was willing to have the boat captain kill him just because he was getting close? And then they never even had a confrontation? Jun-ho spent years trying to find that island, just to be too late and have it all be pointless? His storyline could have disappeared entirely and not affected the plot at all. I don't care if they have a spinoff and somehow show In-Ho picking up where Gi-Hun left trying to maybe overthrow the games elsewhere, I don't care if we get a backstory on him now. I just don't care... The whole premise of the show was ruined, and it all leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Years of devotion to this show and this is what we got? The actors gave it their best with what they had to work with (minus the VIPs, honestly... That acting was a bit off, particularly the woman). Season three felt rushed, thrown together, and there was just not the sense of... Care? the other seasons had. It had a weird vibe. It's giving Supernatural finale, honestly.
