The art style is amazing, like looking at an old movie poster and it often reminds me of Batman: The Animated Series.
However, that’s got to be my only compliment to the show. I was really, really looking forward to another version of Batman that does him and Gotham’s villains justice, but this show doesn’t.
Each of the side characters are changed, some are minor and some are in major ways. While there isn’t always something wrong with this, each change seems to make each character uninteresting and just… flat.
My biggest issue is Harvey Dent. I assume his change to a more self-centered personality was to highlight how great Barbara is, since she is an attorney in this series too, but the change really makes his character feel so simple. His transformation to Two-Face doesn’t have the emotional impact as it did in other series, where Harvey is a good man through and through.
Even Harley feels less exciting and fleshed out as a character. Maybe it’s because I simply don’t like the change, but I felt like her character was too simple. And, again, it takes away just how tragic her character was. That’s what made it so interesting to me!
