Using contemporary music and language really hurts this doc. The pop music is distracting from the story. Moreover, the idioms such as "drum roll please, or high five" distracts from the story. Youth who would not know any better might believe that these phrases have been used for centuries. And an otherwise interesting story is diminished by these distractions. The actors for the most part, do well in their portrayals. And I feel the directors and writers are trying to make Anne Bolyen a sympathetic person. I think that the way men (kings) dominated women during that time, Anne could never have been as bold as she is portrayed. She certainly had her own thoughts but she must have been walking a fine line without destroying herself and family early on. The sets are very nice and the properties are done well. I personally would prefer realistic use of the language at that time.

If you want a creepy, very creepy, experience watch this film. I just watched it for the second time and still kept thinking "these are actors" "this is poorly written". But it is true. One will wonder what kind of parents the Broberg's were. Evidently the father likes to "lend a hand" to a neighbor in need and the mother is way into excitement. I do question the parent's actions. Were they gullible or was B so charismatic he had them all fooled? Either way, this film is well done. And will leave you with the idea that humans are truly stupid. While the subject matter is very serious, hopefully, after you watch this documentary, you will appreciate your life all the more. And if you are a parent you will realize that on your worst day, you do not come near the level of parenting skills of the Brobergs.
