Dennou Coil is a surprising treat for those who are interested in the expanded concept of AR technology put into a Sci-Fi Setting. It presents a mystery that slowly builds and presents the concept of the technology itself while carefully weaving various supernatural themes. It presents an initially slow but satisfying story about children in exploring the mystery of the technology and its inhabitants. And as the story progresses, the tension rise and the mystery becomes more intriguing where viewers would be left surprised by the creeping shift in the tone of the story and its significance towards the connection it has on earlier episodes. Overall, Dennou Coil is an underwatched gem that had a lot of people dropping it midway due to its slow pacing in the first half, but make no mistake it is one of the most satisfying stories to be invested in as the buildup towards the concept and the interactions between the characters would result in one the most beautifully crafted story ever made.

Incredible world design, incredible gameplay and incredible animations but there's one problem. The story doesn't hold up the world. The characters are inconsistent compared to the first game. And most of the time, it felt like watching a movie instead of playing the rich world that it was promised. It's narrative felt forced and rough as the thing that made the first game special, The relationship between the two main character, was just gone. Overall it had all the set pieces to be the best game of the year that would be held as the pinnacle of video game history but instead, we were given a disappointment from hype, false advertising and terrible story telling. 7 years in the waiting, and I am not looking forward to the next naughty dog games
