As a Percy Jackson fan for a while, the has crossed my expectations. All the changes that were made here from the original series just made it better.
(Note: There will be spoilers)
Episode 1:
The introduction of the first episode was pretty much from like in the books. Next comes Percy talking about the wierd, imagerinary things he saw. The pegasus he saw in second grade was Blackjack, who does not appear until the second book. We also see some sort of bull, which I presume is the hellhound, which should have come later in the series. Then we see all the things Percy saw in drawing. The next part with Percy meeting Grover, I could honestly say it was better that the books itself. Percy tells us how he met Grover, and shows how strong their connection is. When we first see those two together, we see them with the Mythomagic cards, which do not appear until the third book. At the museum, we see that Percy has dyslexia because while he is looking at a piece of paper, and we see how it looks like for people with dyslexia. We see him having a flashback with his mom when the went to the MED. I love everything added to Sally Jsckson's character. Outside by the fountain, we see Percy taking Grover's meat and Grover taking Percy's cheese, clearly depicting that Grover is a vegetarian. I was relieved that the series added Nancy Bobofit, because the movies left her out, and another thing the movies left out was percy feeling a pit in his stomach and pushed Nancy in the fountain. One thing that sort of disappointed me was that instead of Percy actaully beating the fury, we just see that when the fury pins him to the floor, Percy sort of accidentally opened the pen, and that was what killed the fury.
