I had a red eye Padmavat experience last night sitting in the Cinepolis theatre. I had lot of expectations from this SLB magnum opus. Sadly I slept in between the movie only to be awake by a hard push by my wife sitting beside me. The movie is pretty slow and sequences are stretched beyond the viewers’ capacity. Padmavat could have easily be named as Alauddin instead. Shahid Kapoor as Ratan Singh lacks charm and looks more like a dressed up model rather than a King with bravado and purpose. The portrayal of Malik Kafur was also equally found wanting considering the history behind the eunuch’s name as the most dreaded general of that era. Jauhar in the movie was glamourised as all the women were seemingly fashionable and expressionless. Dipika got less screen space compared to Ranvir, leaving viewers undecided about the authenticity of the name of the Movie. Above everything else, why so much fuss the Karni Sena made on the movie is really hard to guess.
