I'm giving this a one star for one reason. I hate when developers change the mechanics of a game to the point where certain aspects of the game become unplayable. Specifically HITTING. SDS claims that there are three interfaces for hitting Zone, Directional, and Timing. However, in reality unless you use Zone you can just forget about hitting the ball...ever. Zone also by the way is the most complex of the three. While I'm sure there are a lot of gamers that are proficient in this mode, there are also equally as many who are not die hard players that don't want to do a bunch of steps to try to get a hit. Some follow the Miguel Cabrera school of hitting...see the ball, hit the ball. We just want to time our swing. Anyhow back to the real issue with this. In years past the option to use the different interfaces was just that...an option. As the consumer you could choose what method suited your skill level or difficulty tolerance but really no matter what option you chose you could still hit the ball the same. Now however, if you choose directional or timing modes, the batters capacity to hit the ball actually decreases simply because of how you want to tell the game to swing the bat. It makes no sense. Why should a batter gets less hits because someone wants to hit a button instead of moving the analog stick and button together. This is a major screw up on the part of SDS and something I hope will be fixed in a patch. Because as of 2 days in I'm already thinking about going back to an older version where at least I can have fun playing and not go through a month of games and hit 1 home run.
