I have dealt with my fair share of diagnosed mental health problems. This book is an eyeopener in many senses, but not only in the way of solid mental health issues but also themes such as self-sabotage. It can be frustrating to read at first as it comes off that mental health is a tool to a negative goal you have set for yourself. However, I urge you to continue reading.
Instead of claiming mental illness as a conscious thing we make up ourselves, it everything you do has a goal- a setting point. The example the book gives is a person who will not leave their room due to anxiety and depression: the book signifies that the person in the room has set a goal not to leave it- not matter what they say. It explores the fact you can get yourself out of situations once truly dedicating yourself.
I urge anyone even if they do not believe or agree with the view, to read the book anyhow. There is much to learn around the topic and the way the book is laid out into a conversation is refreshing.
