This absolute joy of a comedy is exactly what this world needed. Adapted from a 1353 masterpiece, this interpretation is profoundly hilarious with a subconscious nod to the state of humankind. Tony Hale and friends capture hearts with vibrant performances, brimming with reflections of the dark humor that makes this series special. The sultry and sexy escapades of the story showcase the irreverence once thought only to be captured by reality TV of the modern era, parodied in its finest form. To imagine people being this way 700 years ago is weirdly inspiring, both giving hope for our shortcomings and curbing our enthusiasm for utopian ideals.
This series is an instant classic, and were it not for the limited source material, would thrive with more seasons. I can accept that it is a limited series, and cherish this for the amazing work it is. All of the acting is top-notch. The Music is phenomenal! Costumes were well done. There's really nothing to complain about. The sets were immersive and real, quality akin to Game of Thrones. Visually stunning and immersive while remaining bleak and sickly humorous. I'm surprised it doesn't have more unanimous approval by critics, but audiences clearly appreciate it for the outstanding series it's proven to be! This is my favorite show in a long time!
Some critics and websites fail to see the cinematic masterpiece that The Decameron is. Roger Ebert's website continues to reflect many of his missed-marks in film-review during his life. We all have different taste, and that man and his colleagues had/have the polar opposite taste of me. I'll never forgive their abysmal review of the Tim and Eric movie, and their review of this show is equally as deplorable and inaccurate. They totally missed the point. Don't let fools lead you astray from this gold. It's absolutely worth the watch. I've already started rewatching it.
