The cinematography was amazing, fully capturing the scale of the magnitude and grandiosity of world and universe spanning conflict between factions and planets. However, it lacked detail in dialogue and exposition which would have informed the neophyte to Dune a bit better, and defined the plot more clearly, as well. Unlike the 1994 rendition directed by David Lynch, which was highly stylized, this one left my eyes a bit bored. Otherwise, a very good movie.

An amazing cult classic for a reason. Great, simple plot, highly stylized, legitimately scary with great practical special effects and sardonically humorous. It never gets bogged down with it’s own plot or complicated details, and just tells a story about human corpses coming back to life in a very entertaining way.
