It's one of the most heartbreaking and amazing books I've ever read. Imaculee's triumph against all odds, living in a bathroom with 7 or 8 other women for 90 days, and the darkness of Rwanda's most tragic genocide left me speechless. And just reading about the politicized issues that lead to this massive tragedy is a frightening reminder of how things can go so horribly wrong when people listen to corrupt leaders. It's also a beautiful story of how faith healed her and kept her hope alive through her darkest hours. It's also a story of forgiveness. Her whole family was slaughtered and yet she found the grace in her heart to forgive. I'm not sure that I would be able to do that.

I previously read some other reviews before I started watching the movie and was very hopeful that this would be something more riveting. Then suddenly the movie ends and nothing has really happened. Sorry that you lost me on this one. I’m not overly critical of movies but this is almost like a dead pan joke with actually no punchline whatsoever. It’s a bummer for Julia Garner because though her acting is great the script falls very short. I kept waiting for something more riveting to happen. Anything riveting. And then it just ends leaving you wondering why this film was even made and why the hell it got a 92% on Rotten Tomato is beyond me.
