Hands down the best mech game on the market. AC6 perfectly captures the frenetic pacing, lightening-fast combat, bleak aesthetics and epic scale of 1990s mecha anime (a la Gundam).
With a moderate learning curve, high skill ceiling, in-depth mech customization, and Soulsborne-esque boss battles, AC6 is not for casual gamers. Getting comfortable with the ingenious control scheme, stat-intensive mech customization and overall pacing of the game may take several hours. Stick with it, and you'll quickly find yourself enjoying some of the most fluid, multi-dimensional, fast-paced combat in the genre. In "flow state," combat takes the form of a graceful, choreographed dance of death as your mech glides across concrete and over buildings, overwhelming enemies with missile salvos and calculated melee strikes. At any given time, you're managing at least 4 different systems at once.
Boss battles are often brutal and overwhelming. "Balteus," Chapter I's final boss, took me 24+ attempts to defeat. The spike in difficulty was honestly jarring. The pain is worth it, though, as AC6 rewards players' hard efforts. By Chapter 3, you have access to enough weapons & mech parts to feel in control.
One of AC6's best features is its replay value. Replaying the campaign offers new missions and parts; arena combat mode allows you to battle dozens of AI mechs at will; hundreds of mech parts/weapons offer near-endless customization possibilities; online PvP pushes your mech build meta & skills to the limit.
Despite a few balancing issues & some borderline unfair difficulty spikes, AC6 will appeal to mech nerds and fans of challenging, super-fast combat. Just be aware: This game is NOT Mech Warrior or Titanfall; the complexity, challenge & skill ceiling are much higher.
