Amazing memoir, truly highlights the high highs and low lows of training and midwifery as a vocation. Brilliant author with a lovely heart and soul, absolutely dedicated to the job. Emphasises the fine line between the haze and reality, and also shows her own bedside manner very well (story about the mother with reduced movements springs to mind - you wouldn't tell a grieving mother that their baby's death is their fault, therefore you let them talk and grieve, you do not condescend). Has both cemented my desires to work in this profession and also terrified me about the realities, which makes me want to work harder for it!
