I saw a lot of reviews saying this movie is about a servant driver who kills his master to escape poverty. what kind of moral is that? But I think those people have missed the point. It’s about how difficult it is to get out in the position you’re born into and that being good is a rich mans privallege. This ofcourse does not fit the black and white folks who believe good is good and bad is bad. We live in a grey world, in which both good and bad people can benefit and suffer. It’s just how much can you get away with?

This is the only live action even after 5 years that deserves 5 stars. I watched in cinema and more times than I can count. this reminds me of a time where Disney was all about teaching you morals but in the most magical, classic and timeless way. just like the cartoons before them. Lilly is an amazing Cinderella. Every character is beautifully fleshed out. 3 dimensional. We see the human sides, even with the evil stepmother. of course not all the songs were there but I didn’t miss them because every scene was so beautifully executed. Why Disney did you not do the same magic with beauty and the beast? It was trash. Anyway this film, brings me to tears every time I watch it because there’s is some valuable life lessons in there. Be kind and have courage.

My mom laughed throughout the film. She thought it was comedy. She watched it alone in the cinema, and was laughing when she was meant to be crying. There is either something wrong with the film or my mom.

I really wish I didn't read the bad reviews before watching this. People should give this film a chance. I can tell you that it's 100 times better than Beauty and the Beast (The one live action Disney film I wish I never saw). Naomi Scott brings more depth to Jasmine, than Emma Watson ever bought to Belle. When I heard that Jasmine ends up being the Sultan, I didn't want the idea to be forced. I really liked Jasmines approach to wanting to be a Sultan, she stepped up when she didn't have to even when what she asked for was denied in the first place.She did all that with class too. Yeah it's slightly different than the original, but not in a bad way. It brings a fresh perspective on it and it's 2019, we can't be telling the same stories, same endings till the end of time. Apart from Will Smith looking like a smurf which is kind of funny hence all the beautiful memes that came out because of it, I actually enjoyed his take on the Genie. He had big shoes to fill, but I think that expectation placed on him was unfair in the first place. He bought heart to the character which I loved, which is basically what we all love about Will Smith in the first place. Refreshing but also a great tribute in his own right towards Robin Williams version. Definitely recommend watching this movie with an open mind. You just might enjoy it!
