I don't think about the TV version at all. I recollect reading the book when I was at grammar school. The main library in Lincoln was pretty cool back then and kept the latest SF in the Gollancz yellow jackets on their shelves. My favourite of Phillip K's oeuvre was, probably still would be, "Time Out of Joint". But I did like the riff about the Japanese collector buying the Brooklyn Bridge.
