I thoroughly enjoyed this bitter/sweet movie. Tom Hanks was excellent as usual but his supporting actress who befriends him should be given an award for her part in this movie. I know it is only a movie but she managed to show this grumpy old man that life was actually worth living eventuating in a real feel good ending.

I really can't understand why this film was rated 4 and a half to five stars. It was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The script was warped and black. The scenery was sparse and dull and there really was no productive story. I kept waiting to see if any good would come of it. The poor donkey....I was worried for the border collie and when I got to the end of the movie I just thought that is a couple of hours I am never going to get back in my life. It told me to enter a star rating which I did as it didn't give me a option to rate nil. I wouldn't even give it one star.
