In my humble opinion, this is the quintessential Sonic the Hedgehog game. It feels like a melding of every game from the same franchise that came before, specifically Sonic 2 and 3. What's even more interesting is how much there is in the game that reminds you of previous Sonic titles. First, music: The entire soundtrack for this game consists of music from Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles. For example: Neo South Island Act 1's music is an 8-bit remix of Angel Island Zone Act 1 from Sonic 3. The levels look extremely similar to Sonic 2 as well, with the second area of the game being a complete copy of Chemical Plant Zone from Sonic 2. Overall, while this game clearly rips a lot of material from older games (or just flat out copying them), Sonic Pocket Adventure uses that to its advantage making it exactly what comes to your mind when you think classic Sonic.
