Great book, just read for the second time; the first was at least 20 years ago but reading it again you have even a greater appreciation for what it was like for a young man growing up in Germany post WW1. At least half the book is about his life prior to the start of the second world war. Anyone who is interested in military aviation and particular historical warfare, this is a must read to help you understand what went on in the mind of Germans up to the start of WWII.
