A game with very steep learning curve and sufferred many performance issues. But it is an amazing space game.
The journey from a space pilot to someone leading an empire owning many sectors fighting against different factions is insanely fun.
After 500+ hours of game play with 20 billion cr and over hundreds of ships from fighters to carriers and destroyers,
I am looking forward to their second dlc and release 4.0 to come out.
Forgot to mention, you can actually pilot every single ship in the game except one particular faction runs by machines. That is, trader, miner, scout, fighter, medium fighter, destroyer, carrier etc. or you can let your NPCs to pilot them and you can be anywhere in the universe, standing in a station or on the bridge of a carrier, to give your orders to them.
You can participate in a galactic war yourself or just watch and issue command through an overhead map display.
At the same time, you can run your empire to build ships or resouces via your own space stations located in multiple sectors in the universe or you can claim your own sector(s) and try to domainate the whole universe.
Update from version 4.0
Version 4.0 is currently in beta, and so far the performance issue has been much improved. In some of the famous bottleneck areas, my system has 50% improvement in terms of FPS. Also, there are various other new features had been added into the game as well.

===========
There are few story lines provided by the developer, but they were optional in design. However, I would recommend to try those story lines. The most important story lines from my perspective are personal head quarter, Paranid, and Split.
