Reading all these rave reviews, honestly I’m wondering if I’m playing the same game as all these enraptured fans! Huge fan of the Lego series and playing on a Switch. Also thoroughly enjoyed the original Lego Star Wars remember and its levels with fondness.
This is very different to most of the Lego games I have played and the original version. The visuals are stunning and the voice acting is good, as is the soundtrack (as I would expect from anything by John Williams). But that’s where all the enjoyment ends. The “levels” are very short, very simple, usually running a short distance after a character to get to the next bit of storyline, or a quick fight with a few droids to complete a mission.
Gone is the long level, working out how to generate parts to complete a build and move on to the next, or even building Lego structures. All the worlds so far seem big, boring and empty with no structure, meaningful tasks or conversations, and the explanation on how to complete some tasks is woeful at best to entirely absent at worst.
Very, very disappointing; a waste of £49.99 and many months of eager anticipation. Badly done, Lego; badly done.
