Jiles’ short novel packs a huge punch in its melding of beautiful prose, historical accuracy, Exquisite description of the 1870’s yet untamed Texas Territory and presenting it all with a brilliant Element of wisdom and insight throughout. The author’s succinct use of language clearly reveals Her origins as a poet. Highly recommend.
