The previews and early discussions sell a controversial movie that gives a chilling view into what a modern civil war in today's America would be like. The movie itself was far from what I expected. While the view from a journalists view of the conflict is interesting, if not a bit over-glorified, we the audience never really get a feeling for what the actual conflict is about. Why did some states become separatists? Why is the president character thrust into the spotlight in the random, rushed ending? Most of all, you call a movie "CIVIL WAR" - and we never really see widespread evidence of WAR on any grand scale- lots of skirmishes and mini battles, and a strangely long scene showing hundreds of helicopters taking to the skies with no follow-up. Never do we actually see what we all assume would take place in a large scale conflict. Would have been a better mini-series than an expected big budget movie. Feels small and incomplete.
