I've seen two seasons now of Picard. There are not many TV series or movies that make you think more than this series. It is EXCEPTIONALLY well written. The acting and effects are excellent. It is thought provoking, surprising, exhilarating, introspective, and, at times, emotionally overwhelming. In addition, there are messages in the series that go beyond the Star Trek universe. They show all of us what is important in life, and yet it is not "preachy" at all. Just great stories with a solid moral lesson.
To those who say the show is sometimes slow or too complicated, I understand, but if that foundation were not adequately explored, the impact of the resolution would not be as powerful as it is. I think the dramatic arc of each season so far has been wonderful. However, this is not just "candy" TV. This is a series with some very heavy subject matters, and some complicated character entanglements. It is not a show we can just casually wade through. One must actively "swim" in order not to drown.
Bravo to the writers for not writing "down" to the common denominator. They trusted the audience to be more than a spectator. To fully enjoy this show, one has to be an active, thinking, participant. Keep up the good work.
