Back in 2011 people judged this zelda game harshly for its motion control sword and item simulation gimmick but most never actually completed the game being a fan of the series i took my time at a slow pace learning how the combat worked and while in the beggining i was frusterated i was breezing through fights and puzzles without issue my favorite positives for the original on wii were its story *its the first zelda in the timeline* its orchestrated soundtrack the best dungeons in any 3d zelda and the customization for items, my Cons on the other hand are the graphics being outdated for its time 480p 30fps *wii* at a time when games were running at 1080p 60fp *ps3/360/pc* constant backtracking in the story and lengthy hand holdy tutorials it would of been nice for those that didnt want to use motion controls to have a basic control option at the time i felt the game was underated and not given a chance because of the hardware it was on and the time of release*end of the wiis life* WII Version score 8.5/10
The HD switch release on the other hand fixed alot if not most of what the original version needed but is not a complete remake the switch version as name says is in HD in portable 720p and docked 1080p and both play at a constant 60fps *a first for the series* the switch release also adds higher textures to models but unfortunately removes the blur effect the original wii version had that masked the polygons and jagged background models like plants trees and such the switch version also makes all tutorials optional and makes cutscenes skip able cutting 45 minutes between start and the 1st main area outside of town unfortunately backtracking is still a issue but with the help of a zelda loftwing amiibo you can buy alongside the game you can fast travel from any dungeon or area in the games surface making restocking in town and such easier it would of been nice if the feature wasnt locked behind the amiibo though as amiibo scalping is still a issue in 2021 but there are other ways to get this nfc other then buying the figure so ill give it a pass the 2 biggest features added to this version of the game other then visuals though are a auto save feature was added that triggers anytime you load into a area and a much needed button controller gameplay feature if you dont want to deal with motion controls you can use any 1st party or 3rd party pro controller to play the game your sword swings are mapped to the right analog stick and by flicking a derection you will swing that way the left sticks L3 is your shield/deflect button and aiming with ranged is done with the stick or gyroscope if the controller has one plus while a camera control feature was mapped to the right stick when using motion controls you can activate it on your pro controller by holding L1 and using the right stick hopfully now that the switch version is out and fixed alot of issues people are willing to give this gem a chance this is definitly a great zelda title and should not be ignored my rating of the HD switch version is a 9.5/10
