This is by far the best book Dr. Seuss has ever written! I have this book memorized and give it to every new parent for baby showers and new baby gifts. It is charming, illustrations are incredible, and I can't understand WHY it will no longer be published!!! There is ONE reference to Eskimos: "Some Eskimo fish from beyond Hudson Bay might decide to swim up, well, they might, and they may." The fish have little fur-trimmed hoods around their faces. And yes, there are igloos and people wearing fur-trimmed coats standing on the shore. So what are we calling Eskimos now? Does anyone know? There are other Dr. Seuss books that I completely understand are definitely racist, but just not this one. After all, he wrote The Sneetches--it's all about being different and discriminating against people who are different than you. I think Dr. Seuss would be shocked and horrified to see that this beloved book will no longer be published.
