Trys to teach non farming folk what it's like to be on the land - endlessly heavy-handed explanations, too many flashbacks and conversations that pull away from the initial intrigue and drive of the novel initially setup, Contrived ending giving us a lecture on contemporary problems, couldn't wait to finish so could get into a better book. Sorry Jane I really enjoyed the dry' a lender more succinct piece.
