I wanted to like this show but could not. It doesn’t know its tone, time period or intention. And the acting is self conscious and distracting. We don’t care about either character b/c they are not believable or compelling. Joss is a cliche (exploited / “empowered”) bringing nothing new to a role and narrative we’ve seen 10,000 times. And the exhaustive back and forth about the leaked photo is blah and does not feel like high stakes in the slightest. The dance sequence is tired and too long. We get it - joss is exhausted and exploited and possibly a sex addict? Or mentally disturbed? But the question is, who cares? Probably nobody who watched the show. Because the execution falls flat. And you also don’t believe the chemistry between Joss and the Weeknd. Somehow they would automatically be “vibing” but you don’t feel one moment of it.
