Over-the-top (but deliciously so!!) revenge thriller that gives you everything you want. 1944. When a bedraggled group of fleeing Nazis come across an old prospector and take his hoard of gold, little do they know that they will never get to spend it!! For that old prospector is a former elite Finnish soldier who has single-handedly killed over 300 Russians to date.... so It’s unlikely that a whole company of nasty Nazis will break his stride!! Great fun and wonderfully gory!!! Highly recommended 😀

This movie is the absolute apex of the psychological horror/thriller genre (as it’s numerous Oscar wins will attest!!) There are some very decent runners-up, Se7en, Copy Cat....maybe a handful of others, but The Silence of the Lambs is utterly unsurpassed. This is one of hundreds of reviews, so I don’t think I can say anything here that hasn’t already been said, however if you’re just scrolling through these to get an idea of what you might fancy watching and you like ‘serial killer’ movies, then believe me, you will thank me for recommending this!!! 😀😀😀

In the arena of sci-fi horror, it just doesn’t get any better than this. The Thing is enthralling, thrilling, scary, horrifying and absolutely dripping with suspense-drenched paranoia from start to finish. The cast can’t be faulted, with Kurt Russell somehow managing to stand out amongst his super-impressive fellow actors and the special effects (none of your CGI rubbish here!!) are sublime; both shocking and breathtaking. There’s nothing further I can add that someone else hasn’t already put in a review, but if you’ve not yet had the utter pleasure of seeing this true masterpiece, please....do yourself a favour!!!

A great movie with an absolutely amazing cast and a decent storyline too. Although I found it rather confusing in places (which may well have been Edgar Wright’s suspense-building intention), it delivers in spades on both the slow burn paranoia and on the creeping horror fronts, plus there’s plenty to satisfy any gore-hounds present too!! The fabulous 60’s soundtrack is a pure joy (as are the frequent flashbacks to 60’s London which are very convincing) and the final revelation is certainly worth the wait!! Not perfect, but all round, a very respectable little offering!! 😀
