I have to disagree with alot of people about this game. Its one of my favorites on the Snes, and its combat system for the first time eliminating random encounters in a Final Fantasy game was a great departure for me. It wasn't realty done again until Final Fantasy 12, with the Gambit system (still my favorite rpg combat system to date). The story isn't on the level of perhaps Final Fantasy 7, or even 3(US 3 i mean), but its as good as most of the era. I suppose it's most stand out feature was the no random encounter thing truthfully. You could still grind, as they smartly returned most event places you can stop at back to scratch when you exit and return, even including chests often times. Overall, its a fun rpg an if you're a fan if that era and style of rpg (its still a jrpg in every aspect, you just get to see your opponents and often choose whether to engage them or not. But that's not always the case, many times you are forced to fight something(s) just to get past certain areas on the maps. But there are a large amount of fights you can skip out on if you choose to, or if your a fan of grinding a bit like me, you keep re-entering zones. and fighting the creatures, rinse and repeat until you've attained the desired level each time. . Then progress the story a bit, rinse and repeat. That simple lol. But that's the era we're talking about here. I think many were disappointed by the story more than anything, but im not much for the story in a game honestly, im more about the combat and leveling aspects. So for me, this was a beloved childhood game that I still return to every now and again.
