Never before have I seen a film where my opinion of it is the antithesis of critical consensus. I feel the industry was expecting this film to be a bombastic culmination of Twentieth Century Fox's X-Men franchise. In the age of Avengers I understand why many would think this. This film however, is a mature and thoughtful film that takes it's time to flaunt its spectacle and give audainace an intimate look at the trauma these characters are going through. The Dark Phoenix is great send off to franchise that started it all.
