While Dune 1 was reasonably faithful to the book, Dune 2 drastically changed some important events and characters. These changes did not improve the story or add suspense. If I had not read the books, I would have loved it. As someone who has read the original series multiple times, I was frustrated by the totally unnecessary changes.
