It is a tragedy that I have not discovered this show earlier. After a weekend of binge watching I can say that is my favorite role by David Mitchell to date. The entire cast kills in their own respective ways, with special mention of Rob Rouse and Helen Monks. (Monks portrayal of a hormonal, moody, bitchington of a young girl reminds me why I was glad to be an only child)
This show can catch you so many ways. Devotes of the Bard will enjoy the frequent stretches of play quotes or their devious paraphrasings. Fans of the Office and Black Adder will be kept on their toes marking the often subtle references to those shows. (The parody of Gervais is unbelievable!) And the constant calls to the state of modern British transport and world events are a lark even for those of us across the pond so to speak.
All in all, one of the better BBC produced comedy series in recent years. I can only hope they see fit to carry on with it.
