After watching a historically accurate movie like "The Revenant"(starring DiCaprio )that had me on the edge of my seat and emotionally involved from the first moments till the credits ..."Horizon" was clunky, clumsy, and poorly scripted. An incoherent, disjointed excuse of a "Western".The characters were all flat and insultingly stereotypical, as were the relationships proposed between them. What a painfully idealized version of the "West" this film represents. Golden haired women/girls in sparkling crisp white linen? C'mon... I can't even get my whites that white in modern day! All the indigenous women had perfectly straight shiny hair and not a single stripe of war paint smeared or feathered headband askew on the men.Even the lecherous bad guys were some how "pretty". Not to mention the young rescued "Soiled Dove" with the two year old baby , that you only saw holding still and being cute, especially during conversations between the two adult characters where you stared at the back of his head as she holds him?! Just weird. As for breathtaking scenery....red rocks by the river, squalid mining town and dusty wagon trains/encampments were all "meh". Same with the fight/battle scenes. Just over all lack luster, even with the slight "tintype" quality. I experienced better Cinematography and Musical Score in Seth McFarland's " A Million Ways to Die in the West"(which is an irreverent musical comedy)! After 3 hrs of watching, a week later I can't even remember a single character's name and I have no desire to find out what happens to any of them. If this movie was meant to set up its sequels, in my opinion it failed completely. I will NOT be following this franchise or wasting another hard earned penny on a dreadful dead horse like "Horizon".
