These are exciting works, generally well played and recorded. The piano concerto is nicely balanced and transparent throughout. Heisser's playing is first rate. The symphony is a study in contrasts, with the famous final section demonstrating the sonic power of the organ and Daniel Roth's playing in Saint-Sulpice. If the organ slightly overwhelms the proceedings in the final pages, it seems like it could not be otherwise: two "orchestras" battling it out to the end.
