This is the best book I have read this year, and suspect it will rocket itself onto the list of my favourite books period. Anthony Oliveira, who has the mind of a theologian and the soul of a poet, has written the life of Jesus in poetry through the eyes of “the disciple whom he loved.” It is a masterpiece of Queer contextual narrative. The Jesus in these pages is the Jesus I met in my twenties, the Jesus I fell in love with, the Jesus whose priest I wanted to be. If you have an interest in Jesus, in Queerness, in radical living, in economic justice, or in social activism, this is for you.
