This series seems like it was created to be a tribute to Alicia Vikander. We are told by various characters that she is beautiful, radiant, brilliant, a movie star etc - but see little of that in actuality. Alicia Vikander is dull and ordinary and it seems impossible to get a reading on her character. Strangely enough, the series spends some time being fairly critical of a large designer brand that is funding the movie simply to lure the star of the movie (played by Alicia) into a beauty contract. IRL we know that Alicia is firmly contracted to Louis Vuitton and so there are very prominent LV product placements throughout the series. Hypocrisy much? The French cast though are excellent.
