I like how the show is going so far but the issues with the movies made prior was that it was not accurate to the books and unfortunately this show has the same problem. So many things are changed that make it different from the books. (WARNING: spoilers ahead) Some details I have pointed out was that Gabe Ugliano is not as scary as the books and almost seems easy going, funny and slightly likable. Grover is not on crutches. Percy does not really fight Mrs. Dodds in the first episode, Grover almost seems unfaithful as a friend, we never get told that Percy’s dyslexia was due to him being wired for Greek, he kills the Minotaur almost in like 5 seconds, without any struggle. We rarely see Percy go through any tough battles, we see him have a few scratches that almost appear as if the fight was nothing major, and so much more! Lastly Annabeth seems a little weird, unlike the books where Percy was amazed by her, but in the show he’s just a bit weirded out and as the audience we feel that too. Lastly, me personally I thought most of the acting was great BUTTTT some of the acting was also bad. I thought Grover’s acting was the worst and I couldn’t feel any emotion through it and appeared as though he was word for word reading the script without any thought behind the emotional aspect of the script. Overall everything feels so fast paced that details were excluded making it different from the books. However, if you like fast paced that’s great. I think the show could be enjoyable but definitely not an accurate portrayal of the books.
Edit: lowered it to one star after watching episode 3
